Christmas Tree Cupcakes

How cute are these cupcakes?! And they’re so simple to make, they just use my basic chocolate cupcake and buttercream recipe. All the fun is in the decoration as these are totally customisable, so I can’t wait to see what you all come up with

Decoration

You can get really creative when you’re decorating your trees on this one. I used mini m&ms and star sprinkles for mine, but you could use edible glitter, jelly tots, crushed candy canes or really anything else that takes your fancy!

Method:

  1. Line your cupcake tray with 6 cases and pre heat your oven to 160c Fan

  2. Cream your butter and sugar together until it has lightened in colour and looks fluffy

  3. Add your eggs, flour and cocoa powder and mix by hand until it’s all fully incorporated

  4. Split your batter evenly between your cases and pop them in the oven to bake for 22-25 minutes

  5. Take your cupcakes out of the oven, you’ll know they’re ready when they spring back when pressed

  6. Leave your cupcakes to cool

  7. Make your buttercream by whisking together your butter and icing sugar with an electric whisk

  8. Add green food colouring to your buttercream and mix it in till it’s at the desired colour

  9. Pipe your trees on top of your cupcakes using a large star shape piping tip

  10. Decorate your trees however you want (I used mini m&ms and star sprinkles)
